Born in Minot, North Dakota, Lisa Gill earned an MFA in creative writing from the University of New Mexico. She is the author of five collections of poetry, including Caput Nili: How I Won the War and Lost My Taste for Oranges (2011) and Red as a Lotus: Letters to a Dead Trappist (2002). She is a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in literature. Gill favors collaboration: she has worked with visual artists and musicians and has performed widely. She lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she serves as artistic director for the Local Poets Guild.
