Lea Schneider is a poet, translator, and literary nonfiction writer based in Berlin, Germany. Her work is situated at the intersection of essay and poetry, often mixing the two forms. Publications include the poetry volumes Invasion Backwards (Verlagshaus Berlin, 2014) and Made in China (VB, 2020), the essay Shame (VB, 2021), the nonfiction book Radical Vulnerability (Transcript, 2024), as well as several translations of Chinese poetry into German (including poets like Zheng Xiaoqiong, Xi Chuan, Zang Di, Yan Jun, and Zhou Zan). She has been awarded multiple prizes, among them the Berlin Art Prize, the Dresden Poetry Prize, and the Poetry East West Translation Award, and has been a writer-in-residence at Goethe Institute Nanjing (China) and Art Omi (NY, USA). She teaches Comparative Literature and Creative Writing at Freie Universität Berlin.
