LaWanda Walters
LaWanda Walters is the author of Light Is the Odalisque (Press 53, 2016). Her poems have appeared in Poetry, The Georgia Review,TheAntioch Review, The American Journal of Poetry, Ploughshares, Shenandoah, TheCincinnati Review, Laurel Review, Nine Mile, Live Encounters Poetry & Writing, and other publications. “Goodness in Mississippi,” a poem in the golden shovel form devised by Terrance Hayes, was chosen by Sherman Alexie for Best American Poetry 2015 (Scribner, 2015). Walters was the recipient of a 2020 Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award. She lives in Cincinnati with her husband, poet John Philip Drury.
