Jason Allen-Paisant

Jason Allen-Paisant is a scholar and an award-winning poet who grew up in Jamaica and resides in England. He is the author of The Possibility of Tenderness (Hutchinson Heinemann, 2025), Self-Portrait as Othello (Carcanet, 2023), and Thinking with Trees (Carcanet Press, 2021) which won the poetry category of the 2022 OCM Bocas Prize for Caribbean Literature. His poetry and essays have been published or anthologized in Granta, the Poetry Review, PN Review, More Fiya: A New Collection of Black British Poetry (Canongate Books, 2022), and New Poetries VIII (Carcanet, 2021).
Allen-Paisant is a senior lecturer in critical theory and creative writing at the University of Manchester. His scholarly work has been published in Cultural Critique, French Studies, new formations, and New Theatre Quarterly, among others.
