Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I’ve been a reader of your fine magazine for many years, and I’m a poet myself. I take issue with the July/August edition for the commentary by Michael Robbins on the Norton anthology — aside from disagreeing with him strongly, I believe his ignorance and petty attack in your magazine is promoting censorship, by trying to eliminate an entire school and generation of poets from the canon, because he’s afraid of progress, among other things. I’m trying not to send some long-winded message about this, but I want you to know that because of your embrace of this ignorant bullshit, I will never again buy your publication, and I will spend every minute someone will listen explaining why you’re stuck in some antiquated, twentieth-century time machine, holding on to some dead idea of what poetry is. The fact is, it’s changing drastically, and if you don’t realize what’s ahead of its time and what’s in the past, even your ridiculous endowment will run out and you’ll look like fucking Colliers.
