Sustainable Futures Grants

The Sustainable Futures Grants provide multi-year operating grants to an invited cohort of past grantee-partners. This initiative is designed to strengthen organizational capacity, expand audiences for poetry, and enhance the sustainability of the field. By focusing on poetry organizations led by and committed to serving historically underrepresented poets, the fund deepens the Poetry Foundation’s investment in equity and long-term impact within the literary arts.

Eligibility

This multi-year operating support is available exclusively to past grantee-partners that are focused on poetry. The Foundation will reach out directly to eligible organizations with an invitation to apply.

How to Apply

The Sustainable Futures Grants for 2025-2028 have been awarded. The 2025–2028 cohort includes nonprofit poetry organizations leading community-centered work at the intersection of sustainability, equity, and resilience.

Selected through an invitation-only process, these organizations reflect a wide range of approaches to supporting poets and poetry across the United States. Each organization brings deep commitment, expertise, and a unique contribution to the field. Through multi-year general operating support, the Foundation seeks to strengthen their capacity to sustain and expand their impact over time.
