Workshops & Discussions
Forms & Features at the Poetry Foundation: Taylor Byas
| 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
This workshop examines how we intentionally create an environment in our writing, and how sound can be a tool with which we build an atmosphere. Looking at samples from both prose and poetry, workshop attendees will consider how the sounds of the writing contribute to their environment while engaging in small and large group discussions.
Participants will then engage in multiple mini-exercises to think about environment in their own work. The session will end with time to write a first draft, revise with specific prompts towards sound, and share with the group.
This workshop is for participants aged 18 and older, of all backgrounds and experiences with reading and writing poetry.
