Mary Ann Sullivan
Mary Ann Sullivan earned a BA from Framingham State College, an MFA from Norwich University, and a Doctor of Arts from Franklin Pierce University. Her poetry has been published online by the BBC Arts Online and BlazeVox, her literary commentaries with Jacket and The Poetry Library, Southbank Centre, London. While a cloistered Cistercian nun, Sullivan wrote traditional poetry, some of which appears online in the e-chap Mending My Black Sweater. Her digital poems have been featured at Mezzo Cammin, and her digital collaboration with Russell Goings, “The Children of Children Keep Coming” premiered during the West Chester Poetry Conference at West Chester University, June 2011. The University of Maryland Libraries' Literary Archives and Manuscripts archived her digital collaboration with Jesse Glass, “Having Abandoned the Vehicular Eye,” in 2011.
The New York Times called Sullivan's Child of War, a novel set in Belfast, Northern Ireland, “an earnest first novel.” That book was named a Notable Book in Social Studies by the National Council of Social Studies and Children's Book Council.
Sullivan teaches creative writing, composition and communications courses at Hesser College in New Hampshire.
